How is a medical practice cleaned?
In several protocols, the HAS has set out the methodology to be used to "prevent infection risk and ensure a healthy environment for patients and staff". These recommendations are addressed to cleaning companies such as HYGIFRANCE, called upon by healthcare professionals for the regular upkeep of their premises.
One text (appendix 2) deals specifically with cleaning a medical practice: the HAS details the equipment and consumables to use (gown or apron, household gloves covering the forearms, trapeze mop, fringe mops, single-use cloths pre-impregnated with detergent, scouring cream, glass cleaner, etc.).
The document also sets a precise order: room by room, from the cleanest to the dirtiest, and within each room a "top-to-bottom" process (suspended items, then surfaces, medical equipment, sink, basin, toilet and, last, the floor). Floors and furniture are to be maintained once a day, favouring damp dusting before washing with a simple detergent, with or without rinsing depending on the product.
